Students

Lights for school and safety

Let There Be Light International donates solar lights to off-grid school children to improve their health, safety and educational outcomes. The solar lights improve indoor air quality and decrease rates of respiratory illness commonly associated with polluting kerosene lights and allow children to study after sundown. A donation of $500 will donate safe solar light to 30 students and 3 teachers.

Elders

Safe light improves health and wellbeing

Let There Be Light International provides solar lights to vulnerable elders. Solar benefits for elders include a reduced risk of social isolation and injuries and decreased expenditures on fuel. $1,500 will donate solar lights to 100 vulnerable elders in an off-grid community.

New Mothers

Safe Births + Healthy Homes

Safe Births + Healthy Homes (SB+HH) improves maternal and infant health and safety outcomes. Clinics are solar-electrified by Let There Be Light International and portable solar lights are given to all new mothers to improve maternal and infant health impacts at home. Donors can support SB+HH through donations large and small. Donations at the $3,500 and above level will be recognized as the sponsor of a clinic electrification project.

Persons with Disabilities

Light for care and development

Maria is the mother of Irene, age 5, an adorable and adored child. With 10 people in their household, they used to spend $.75 a week on kerosene – 15% of their income. Now they use their solar light at night to care for Irene and the savings for medicine to treat Irene’s epilepsy. A donation of $150 donates safe lights to 10 families.
