Let There Be Light Visits the Land of a Thousand Hills
- Let There Be Light arrives in Rwanda
- Rwanda – Land of a Thousand Hills
- The team sets off on home visits
This week, Let There Be Light International returned home from solar site visits in beautiful, welcoming Rwanda. We connected with partners, met dedicated community stakeholders, and witnessed the impact of solar lights in remote off-grid homes. In just one whirlwind week, we visited off-grid homes, distributed solar lights, and engaged in meaningful conversations about expanding energy access.
Hosted by our local partner, NPO-TER (Non-profit Organization Think about Education Rwanda), and joined by the generous funders of our Shine On Rwanda initiative, as well as team members from Solar Health Uganda, the trip was as much a reunion as it was an adventure. What a fabulous time we had—full of collaboration, learning, and shared commitment to brighter futures.

- LTBLI, NPO-TER, & Shine On Rwanda with solar a recipient
We trekked the gorgeous hills of Rwanda’s Gicumbi District, where we distributed solar lights to 200 families in the off-grid community. With solar smiles all around, we spent meaningful time connecting with community members—listening to their stories, visiting their homes, and learning what access to solar lighting means for their families. These moments remind us that a simple solar lamp is so much more than light—it’s opportunity, security, and hope.
After distributing solar lights and making friends along the way, the team met with the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Gicumbi District. What a valuable conversation about improving energy access and the importance of aligned partnerships!
Thanks to our generous donors, dedicated partners, and resilient communities, lives are brighter and safer. With full hearts, we’re shining on!
